At REFASH, we believe in making a difference — not only to inspire people to choose secondhand, but also give back to the community.

The Thrift Festival is an event organized by REFASH to bring together a myriad of local thrift stores and sustainable brands, all in a retail setting. Throughout the past year, we have held many editions of the event at our offline stores and have gathered thousands of like-minded individuals to embrace secondhand by shifting to thrift.

The Fashion for Good: Influencers’ Closet segment featured several influencers and celebrities, along with other popular personalities. With their support, we curated an influencers’ closet segment where shoppers could browse the influencers' fashion forward styles, snag great bargains and also contribute to charity at the same time.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is committed in serving the underprivileged in the community without discrimination. From social care, community development to disaster relief, The Salvation Army is there to lend a hand and care for those in need.

The Salvation Army has been a long-standing beneficiary at REFASH. Since 2016 when REFASH first started out, clothing that were not accepted for resale are either responsibly recycled or donated to charitable organisations such as The Salvation Army. Their social enterprise arm, Red Shield Industries, processes the donated items and retails those that are in good condition at their Family Stores located across Singapore. In August 2019, we also donated SGD5,000 cash to The Salvation Army, which provides for social care, community development and disaster relief.

MINDS

Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore is a voluntary welfare organisation that provides services for the intellectually disabled. They aim to advance the development, well-being, and aspirations of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and their integration into society.

Domestic helpers often play an important role in caring for persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) and their families. Caring for a PWID, like caring for anyone else, is no easy task. Me Too! Club Girls Group serves as a support group for these caregivers to create friendships and lend help to one another during times of need. In our efforts to give back to these caregivers, we invited them to REFASH, Plaza Singapura for an all-expenses-paid shopping spree in January 2022, where they could enjoy some retail therapy and pick out clothes they wanted for free. We also packed goodie bags filled with daily necessities and distributed to them as well. It was certainly a day to remember for the team at REFASH.

"One of the caregivers Yani shared that she does not go shopping that often as she needs to save money to remit it home, so she really appreciates the kind gesture by you guys!"

"Thank you so much for accommodating to our caregivers yesterday! They had so much fun and got so much clothing.. some bought so many I think it can last them at least half a year!"

HAPPY BANK CREW

Happy Bank Crew is a NGO that aims to support and help the underprivileged community in Malaysia through their various programmes and events.

In December 2021, more than 50,000 people were forced out from their homes in Malaysia and at least 47 died after the country faced one of its worst floods for years. We donated RM1350 and RM1000 in 2 separate occasions to support Happy Bank Crew in aiding the flood relief efforts in Malaysia. This made up part of the proceeds from the Fashion for Good: Influencers’ Closet segment during REFASH Warehouse Sale 2021 and The Thrift Festival 2022, organized by our team in Malaysia. During both events, we collaborated with popular Malaysian influencers such as Serene Khoo, Yvonne Chua, Summer Gan & Yii Yii Tan to curate an influencers’ closet segment for shoppers to shop their fashion forward styles, snag great bargains and also contribute to charity at the same time.
